Obituary

Stephen David Lewis II, age 59, of Fleetwood, PA passed away at his home on Monday, October 2, 2023.

He was born in Minot, North Dakota on August 7, 1964. A current resident of Fleetwood for five years, he was previously from Perkiomenville, PA and East Norriton, PA. Stephen was a 1982 graduate of Norristown Area High School and it was there that he met, who would later become, his wife Nancy. They had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on September 13, 2023.

Stephen was a Philadelphia Union carpenter where he had worked for over 30 years before retiring in 2019. Prior to that, he had honorably served in the United States Air Force stationed at Maguire AFB in New Jersey.

He was a car enthusiast with a passion for Mustangs. In 2005, he entered the Silver State Classic Open Road car race in Nevada and placed 3rd in his speed class. This led him to seek out other race interests closer to home, which brought him to the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association (PHA) and the Blue Mountain Region of SCCA. He was an active participant with those organizations as both a racer and an official. When he passed, he had been working on rebuilding his 2019 Mustang to race at Pikes Peak, CO.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy I.C. Lewis (nee Christy) of Fleetwood, PA; parents Holly & Thomas Mathis of Pittsburg, PA; sister Nancy Kimberly Lewis of Pittsburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen David Lewis III.
