Obituary

Scott N. Powers, age 63, of Pottstown, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

He was born in Norristown, PA on October 5, 1962, the son of the late Neal Lee and Emily (DeMarco) Powers.

Scott was raised in Graterford, PA and later lived in Tacoma Park, MD and Royersford, PA before moving to Pottstown, where he has lived for 34 years. He was a graduate of Blue Mountain Academy and Southern University. After some time working for General Electric, Scott was a longtime owner and operator of a firearms store. He honorably served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Scott was an avid pilot , earning his private pilot’s license while attending Blue Mountain Academy. He owned several aircraft in his life, the latest being a RV8 which he dearly loved. Scott often said he never felt as free and alive as he did when he was in the air.

Scott was a thrill seeker all his life with hobbies including riding dirt bikes, racing both motorcycles and cars, and 4-wheel drive off roading. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, hiking, and rappelling.

He did many firearm competitions and both civil war and WWII re-enacting.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Renee Powers (née Chaney) of Pottstown, PA; son, Kyle (Jen) Powers of Elsmere, DE; brother Jack (Joanne) Coffman of Mont Clare, PA; niece, Jacelyn (Brian) Marlowe and great nephew, Dean and multiple cousins.

His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe, PA 19426.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home prior to the service.

Interment will take place in Schwenksville Cemetery, Schwenksville, PA.

A luncheon will follow at the Roost at Heritage Field Airport.
