Rita Harkins

Rita Lavan Harkins, 96, of Audubon, PA passed away Monday, May 27, 2024.

She was born in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1927, the daughter of the late James T. and the late Marie E. (Mellon) Lavan.

Rita has been living in Audubon for the last 5 years, formerly of East Norriton and Conshohocken.

She was a member of the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1951. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She was Director of Nursing at Morris Manor Nursing Home. At the time of her retirement she was Director of Nursing at Cathcart Nursing Home.

She was the wife of Late - Joseph I. Harkins, Sr.

Survivors include, Son Malcolm (& Maura J. McDonnell) Harkins, III of Arnold, MD, Son Joseph I. "Joby" (& Cornota ) Harkins, Jr. of Drexel Hill, Pa, Daughter Marybeth E. (& Scott) Daniels of Cambridge, MD, Daughter In Law Michelina Harkins of Port Charlotte, FL, Brother Thomas J. Lavan of Drexel Hill, Pa, Brother Edmund C. Lavan of Lansdale, Pa. Rita is also survived by 14 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 3 sons Thomas G. Harkins, Patrick T. Harkins, and John E. Harkins, Sr. and brother James T. Lavan and 2 sisters Marie Waters and Sarah "Sally" Hickey.

Her Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 10, 2024 at 10:30 AM from St. Matthew's RC Church, 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.

Friends may call on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at at the church.

Interment will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken, Pa.
