Obituary

Michael P. Nikolaou

Michael P. Nikolaou, 85, of King of Prussia, PA passed away Monday, October 30, 2023.

He was born in Kalamata, Greece on December 4, 1937, the son of the late Panagiotis and Evangelia- Kamoulakou Nikolaou.

Michael has been living in King of Prussia since 1977, formerly of Norristown, PA and Greece where he was born, raised and started his family.

He was a founding and active member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church of Trooper, PA.

He worked as a Machinist with Philadelphia Gear Corporation in King of Prussia then later he drove a school bus with Upper Merion School District.

He was the husband of Zoe (Zouzoulas) Nikolaou.

Survivors include Wife Zoe Nikolaou of King of Prussia, Son Peter (& Jennifer) Nikolaou of King of Prussia, Son George (& Betty Jean Swartz) Nikolaou of King of Prussia, Brother George Nikolaou of Greece, Sister Tasoula Tzouanakos of Greece, Brother Stamati Nikolaou of Greece, and his five Grandchildren; Zoey Nikolaou, Charlie Nikolaou, Michael Nikolaou, Stefano Nikolaou and Jamie Swartz.

"Papou" was very social and supported all the local athletic teams of his children and grandchildren as well as their teammates from the Upper Merion Vikings to the Ursinus Bears. He was also a huge soccer fan of his home team, "Olympiakos" often battling with his brothers as to who was the better team. In addition, he was a 4 for 4 of all Philly sports, passionately yelling at the refs through the TV.

He loved his vegetable gardens, but most importantly, his fig trees which he loved to share with friends and fellow European fig lovers. Costco employees all knew him as the "Mayor of Costco", and he would proudly tell you about his grandchildren, regardless, if you asked.

However, without a doubt, his entire world surrounded loving and supporting his childhood sweetheart Zoe. They have been together over 70 years through thick and thin, from dating on bikes through the olive trees of Kalamata all the way to King of Prussia. They will be together again eventually in eternity.
