Obituary

Mary Balestra, age 95, of Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and her children on July 30, 2026.

Born on February 28, 1931, in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louis Blasi and Alice (Tammaro) Blasi.

Mary married her sweetheart Luigi Balestra on February 16, 1957. They were married for 65 years. They were longtime residents in the 
Roxboro section of Philadelphia until they moved together in January 2020 to Providence Place in Collegeville, PA. Mary was preceded in death by her cherished Luigi in 2022. 

Mary is survived by her loving children; her son Silvio (Kathleen) Balestra of Trappe, her daughter Marisa of Norristown; her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Balestra and Christine (John) Furst; her brother, Robert (Alice) Blasi of Easton; her nephews Robert and Steven (Jessica) Blasi and many dear and loved family members in both Canada and Italy. During her time at Providence Place, Mary's care was shared by many wonderful people especially her caregivers and friends Maryam Ramos and Michelle Shirley. 

Mary had various careers and worked until she retired at age 75. Mary's favorite role was as a loving mother and homemaker. While living at Providence Place she enjoyed many activities including sharing with residents her recipe for making pizzelles, playing bingo, balloon volleyball, crafting, painting, attending Sunday Mass services and rosary group. She was a former parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and currently a parishioner of St. Eleanor's RC Church. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA 19426 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the 
Church.Entombment will take place in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Providence Place Senior Living, Connections Activities Fund, 4000 Ridge Pike, Collegeville PA 19426.
