Obituary

Maria C. McNamara (née Conte), 57, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Born in Hollywood, Florida on July 19, 1969, Maria was the beloved daughter of Linda Conte (née Cardinal) and the late Fredric Conte.

Maria was raised in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University. While attending Widener, Maria was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority, where she formed lifelong friendships that she cherished throughout her life.

Following graduation, Maria built a respected nursing career, working at several healthcare institutions in Pennsylvania and Hawaii, including Surgicare of Hawaii, Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Lankenau Medical Center, Abington Surgical Center, Paoli Surgery Center and Aetna. She was deeply committed to patient care and took great pride in her profession. Maria was known for her compassion, dedication, and the meaningful relationships she formed with colleagues throughout her career.

Maria enjoyed a wide range of interests and made the most of every place she called home. During her years in Hawaii, she learned to surf and developed a lifelong love of the ocean and spending time at the beach. Even after returning to Pennsylvania, she looked forward to trips to the Jersey Shore, which she loved despite often joking that it wasn't quite Hawaii. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved baking and cooking for family and friends. Her homemade scones, chocolate chip cookies, and bolognese sauce became favorites among those fortunate enough to gather around her table. Maria was also a devoted cat mom to Cosmo, Luna, and Natasha.

Above all, Maria cherished her family, her friendships, and the time spent with those she loved most. She especially loved being an aunt and delighted in following the lives and accomplishments of her nieces and nephews. She treasured time spent with family and sharing in life's special moments together.

She is survived by her husband, Sean P. McNamara of Downingtown; her mother, Linda Conte of Plymouth Meeting; her two brothers, John (Karen) Conte of Plymouth Meeting and Joseph (Monica) Conte of Exton; her two stepchildren, Quentin (Jorah) McNamara of Honey Brook and Riley McNamara of Downingtown; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Maria's family will receive relatives and friends on September 18, 2026 from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Words of Remembrance will begin at 10:45 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maria's memory to Chester County Food Bank or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home & Crematory, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401.
