Lawrence "Wayne" Tomko, 92, of Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall Township. Wayne was born of very humble beginnings on December 10, 1933, in Tampa, Florida. After attending high school in Tampa, Florida, Wayne hitchhiked to Pennsylvania to be a machinist. While staying at the Norristown YMCA, Wayne met the first love of his life, Eleanor G. Luther of Bridgeport, PA whom he later married. The Luther family adopted Wayne as their own with unyielding love and support. With Eleanor, Wayne had three children, Christine, Linda and Tim. Wayne's young family lived in Trooper and later moved to Collegeville, PA in 1974. After Eleanor's passing in 1975, Wayne later met the second love of his life Patricia Huguenin. Wayne and Patricia were married in 1976. Wayne and Patricia shared many joyful years traveling as well as spending time at Lake Wallenpaupack.
Wayne worked for many companies such as Jefferson Tool, Continental Can Company, Better Plastics before retiring from S&L Plastics in Nazareth, PA as technical sales manager. Wayne's prowess for precision and solving technical problems was his superpower.
Wayne loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He never missed a family event. Wayne was a gifted storyteller. At gatherings, Wayne brought joy and wonder by captivating listeners with stories from his past. Wayne loved working with his hands. When he wasn't working on one of many projects, he loved the outdoors where he enjoyed golfing, fishing and motorcycling. Among his many motorcycle trips, his most memorable trip was riding his Harley across the country on Route 66 with his son. Wayne will be deeply missed.
Wayne is survived by his wife Patricia of Collegeville, PA, daughter Christine Houck and husband Glenn of Wind Gap, PA; daughter Linda Haraske and husband Tom of Schnecksville, PA; son Tim Tomko and his wife Mary of Schnecksville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor Luther; brothers Joseph Tomko and Robert Tomko; his parents George and Anna Lou Tomko; his sister, Kathryn Futch; Great grandchild Joshua Gehman.
Family and friends are invited to attend Wayne's funeral service which will be held on Tuesday, August 18 at Saint Eleanor's Church at 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426. Calling hours will start at 10AM with a Mass following at 11AM.
Interment will take place at Limerick Garden of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Wayne's memory to Richi House at www.richihouse.org or mail to 705 Adam's Street, Holliston, MA 01746. Richi House funds a respite house for children, teens and young adults with cancer and their families.
