Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Laurie Gael (Sava) Mueller, age 60, of West Norriton, Pa., on Saturday, June 20, 2026, while surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born in Mineola, New York, on October 9, 1965, the daughter of the late Warren and Tacey (Papenhausen) Sava, Laurie grew up in New Hyde Park, NY.

Laurie demonstrated a deep love of music very early in life, and was singing as soon as she was able to talk.  She developed an incredible talent for playing the organ in her teens, and went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Organ Performance and Sacred Music from Lebanon Valley College, and a Master of Arts in Religion from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

Laurie and her husband, Bill, settled in West Norriton 22 years ago where they have been members of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church of Audubon where Bill serves as pastor.  Laurie found tremendous joy working as the Director of Music in multiple congregations on Long Island and throughout the Greater Philadelphia region for nearly four decades. Also, in recent years, her attention to detail and organizational skills blessed Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in King of Prussia where she took on the role as their Parish Administrator, and her musical talent supported the Norristown Chorale as she served as their accompanist for the past 14 years.

Among the milestones of her well-lived life, becoming a parent to her beautiful children, Tara and Jonathan, was Laurie's greatest joy.

When she was not playing the organ, leading a choir or accompanying a chorale, Laurie loved to read and to snuggle up with her sweet dog, Rosie - her constant companion for the past ten years. The Poconos and Lake George were two of Laurie's favorite places to vacation with her husband, Bill.

Laurie's ability to lift people's spirits with the gift of music is a legacy that will be remembered by the hundreds of people who had the privilege to hear her play or watch her conduct a choir over the past 40 years. We give thanks for Laurie's contagious joy and generosity, the love of her family and friends, her gift of music, and the Lord who now holds her in his loving arms.

Laurie is survived by her husband of 35 years, The Rev. William R. Mueller of West Norriton; children Tara Mueller of Harrisburg, PA and  Jonathan Mueller of East Norriton, PA; and four sisters, Linda Jackson of Westfield, IN, Nancy (Fred) Brown of Lancaster, PA, Wendy (Tom) Wolber of Rockville Centre, NY and Pamela (Dane) Baclaski of Kensington, CT.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446.  Laurie's family will receive relatives and friends in Church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service.

Interment will take place privately at a later date in Augustus Lutheran Church Cemetery, Trappe, PA.
