This June 13th, 2024 Joseph Matkowski took his final breath at the age of 92 in his favorite spot sitting on the front porch on his bench waiting for his wife to return home. The sun rose and the world welcomed Joe on January 7th, 1932 in Wroclaw, Poland, a day the world became a little brighter. Joe lived a full and warm life, always described as 50/50 filled with happiness. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Michael and Joanna (Vizapinska) Matkowski, his sisters Sophia and Marisha Matkowski, and late son John Matkowski. He is survived by his wife Leokadia Matkowski, daughter Zuzanna Mikelsons, son in law Ronald Mikelsons, grandchildren Christina Milligan, Katie White (TJ White), and Ronald Mikelsons (Amanda Mikelsons). He has twelve great grandchildren Braydon, Evan, Quinn, Declan, Fiona and Gwendolyn Milligan, Annie and Trip White, and Breylan, Colton, Grace and Kay Mikelsons as well as a fantastic family in Poland.
He was a Polish Army Veteran in WWII, had a career in maintenance in Poland and when he immigrated in 1967 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He loved being outdoors, taking care of his yard with his wife who tended to their garden. He spent a great deal of time watching over his grandchildren while they were in their younger school age years.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
His Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, June 19 at 12:30 PM in the Barn Chapel at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, 654 Ferry Rd, Doylestown, PA 18901.
Interment will take place in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, 2049 Ferry Road, Doylestown, PA 18901.
