John E. Tate
John E. Tate, 82, of Collegeville, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne Marie (Vaughan) Tate.
John was born in Pittsburgh, Pa on December 19,1939, the son of the late Sylvester and Loretta (Joyce) Tate.
John has lived in Collegeville since 1976, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was an active member of St. Eleanor's RC Church of Collegeville where he was a lector, eucharistic minister, and frequent volunteer. He was a faithful servant of the Lord.
John was a true patriot and served in the US Army where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Letter of Commendation, Expert Rifle Marksman. If you knew John, you know that his lifelong passion was being a soldier. After active duty, he served through the reserves. He proudly returned to active duty, during retirement, to notify the families of wounded soldiers and coordinate their travel to their loved ones overseas. His time in the Army brought him great joy and many stories to share with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as the selfless, charming, and kind man that he was.
John had a distinguished career in military sales with Kimberly-Clark Corporation. He retired in 2003 after 37 years of service.
He is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer (Charles) Lee of Enola, Pa, Jocelyn (Robert) McCafferty of Palmyra, Pa, Jeanette Hellauer (George Chu) of Royersford, Pa, his brother, Robert Tate of Pittsburgh, Pa. He loved his role as Pop-Pop to his grandchildren Noah Lee, Cameron Hellauer, Joshua Hellauer, Erin McCafferty and Brynn McCafferty.
His Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 11:30 AM at St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the church.
Interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Friday, October 21st
