Obituary

John Dennis Keohane, 73, of Villanova, PA, passed away on September 10, 2026. Born on July 8, 1953, in Norristown, PA, he lived a life defined by his sharp mind, generous heart, and quiet wit.

John earned his bachelor of finance degree from Villanova University and went on to complete his master's degree in business administration and accounting at La Salle University. He built a distinguished career as a CPA before becoming a Chief Financial Officer, and retired early, though that never stopped him from doing everyone's taxes. In retirement, he found new ways to be of service through volunteering.

A well-traveled man, John loved spending time with his family, whether over dinner, lunch, or a family party, where the conversation was guaranteed to be loud, sarcastic, and full of laughter. He was a man of few words himself, leaving the talking to the rest of the family and laughing along as a steady, appreciative audience. A lifelong basketball fan, he was especially devoted to Villanova basketball. At home, he could often be found watching old westerns or tuned into KYW Newsradio.

John was straightforward, rational, generous, and caring, the kind of man who could be counted on, and who made you laugh even when you didn't expect it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Keohane, and his wife, Sara Keohane. He is survived by his siblings, Karen Weikel, Kevin Keohane, and Susan Keohane; his children, Erin Shaw (husband Bryce Shaw), Kari Keohane, and John Keohane (wife Jennifer Keohane); his stepson, Daniel Pinsk; his seven grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Fozzie.

A viewing will be held at St. Thomas of Villanova (Campus Church), 800 Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA 19085 on Monday, September 21, from 9:30 to 10:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Norristown.
