Jean Baxter Jeffries, of Royersford, PA passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023 at age 97.

Born on Flag-Day, June 14, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA, Jean was the widow of William James Jeffries, and the daughter of Jesse and Helen (Liebfried) Baxter.

Jean served as the Director of Social Services at Phoenixville Hospital for over 33 years. She also served as the Mayor of Spring City in the mid-1980's. Most of all, Jean will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She attended Spring City H.S., graduating in 1943.

Jean's most valued memory was when she was awarded the Legion of Honor Award given by the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation. The National Legion of Honor Award programs publicly recognizes and honors outstanding members of society whose life models the giving spirit and unconditional service to community, nation, and humanity without regard to race, religion, or creed exemplified by the Four Chaplains. To be considered for this award, the selfless achievement must be above and beyond that of a professional resume or organizational position. Jean was an avowed and unashamed Patriot who believed in her Community, County, and Country first.

In addition to her husband, Jean was predeceased by her son Randall.

Jean is survived by three children, Jay (Ginny) in Bechtelsville, PA; Ted (Sally) in Malvern, PA; and Susan (Preston) Bartlett in Florida; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 2, from 10:00 to 11:00 am with a memorial service at 11:00 at the Moore, Snear, & Ruggerio Funeral Home 224 West Main St., Trappe, PA. Interment will be private at Zion Lutheran Church, Bonnie Brae Road, Spring City, PA.
