Obituary

Freya W. (Wikfield) Blum, age 85, of Audubon, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 5, 2026.

She was born in Staten Island, NY on April 1, 1941, the daughter of Frederick Wikfield and Sophie (Kronenbitter) Wikfield.

She spent 50 years on Westwood Circle in Plymouth Meeting where she was an active member of the community, holding offices in the PTO and Whitemarsh Jr Women's Club. She helped organize a Concerned Colonial Parents (CCP) group around a school strike in the 70's who still meet regularly to this day. Freya was a collector of people. She has been living at Shannondell in Audubon for over 5 years where she was well known throughout the community. She was the wife of the Late Albert E. Blum.

Freya graduated from Gettysburg College at age 20 with a teaching degree and finished her masters in Counseling at St John's college in New York. She started her teaching career outside of Boston then spent 3 years teaching on Long Island before moving to Pennsylvania where she taught in the Colonial School district. She went on to counsel families of children with disabilities at MARC. Then worked as a Middle School Counselor in the Upper Merion Area School District before retiring in 2006, collecting many colleagues who became dear friends along the way.

Freya loved to travel, spend time with her family, and support her grandkids in their sports and activities. There were very few games, special events, birthdays, or dance competitions that she missed. Grammy was known by all as the kids' number 1 fan. Her goal in life was to make sure her family was loved and created life long memories together. From shore vacations, to GSTs, trips to NY, and CA to special 1:1 dinners and spending time at the house on Arrowhead Lake, she left a legacy of family through which we will continue to honor her memory.

Freya was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Lafayette Hill, Pa.

She is survived by her daughter Kristin (Keith) Hokanson of Phoenixville, Pa, son Derek (Monique) Blum of Newtown, Pa, sister Barbett (Bob) Wood of San Diego, CA, also survived by her grandchildren Austin, Erin, Emma, Sydney, Jack & Luke as well as a niece Erica (Ethan) Fink and nephew Robert (Lara) Wood.

Her Memorial Service and Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2026 at John James Audubon Center and Bird Sanctuary 1201 Pawlings Rd, Audubon, PA 19403 from 3 pm -7 pm service at 3:30 pm.
