Eugene Joseph (Gene) Mazzulla, 86, of Limerick and Skippack, PA passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Gene had recently moved into Arcadia at Limerick Pointe after 14 years at Meadow Glen in Skippack. He formerly lived in Collegeville and Havertown.
He was born in Renovo, PA, the son of the late Santo and Concetta Mazzulla. He is the husband of Aida T. Mazzulla.
A proud veteran, as a young man, Gene served as a medic in the United States Army in cold-war Germany in the late 1950s.
Gene retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Philadelphia, after more than 25 years in the data operations center. Prior to that he worked with First Pennsylvania Bank.
A faithful and devoted Catholic, Gene was a member of St. Eleanor RC Church of Collegeville and a former member of St. Laurence RC Church of Upper Darby. He served both in many capacities including lector, Eucharistic minister, choir member, and church volunteer. He was especially committed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Eleanor and St Laurence. Gene served as president of both parish councils as well as Philadelphia central council.
He attended Men of Malvern Mother's Day weekend retreat for three decades, serving as retreat captain many of those years.
Gene was also a committed member of Gamblers Anonymous, attending meetings in Havertown and Trappe; Gene would have celebrated his 45th year of recovery this December.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Gina Mazzulla of Chesterbrook, PA and Lisa (David) Masciulli of Harleysville, PA and grandchildren, Matthew, Amy and Jason Masciulli. He is also survived by his sister Rita Tomko and brothers Thomas and John.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA 19426.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:30 AM at St. Eleanor's RC Church.
The interment will take place at in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.
