After a full and wonderful life, Barbara Fluck has "gone to glory." We are saddened by her passing, but grateful that she is home.
Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and a woman of strong and enduring faith. From a young age, she faced adversity, becoming a half-orphan and being raised in a local orphanage near Media alongside her five siblings. She attended the Philadelphia College of Art for one year before beginning the next chapter of her life with her husband, John, and welcoming their first of five children.
There was a fearless spirit in Barbara that stayed with her throughout her entire life. Whether she was climbing a tree, buying a home as a young couple with limited resources, raising five children on a modest budget, or pursuing her artwork well into her later years, she approached life with determination, energy, and courage. She had a boundless zest for life and a true heart for hospitality, always making others feel welcome in her home.
Barbara's faith was at the center of her life. She loved God deeply and leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, resilience, and love that will continue through the generations.
She is survived by her children, Jay Fluck (Loretta), Judi Sjoerdsma, Jonathan Fluck, Jill Miller, and Janice (Hanan) Itescu; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Beth, Joel, Erin, Barbara, Jeni, Melissa, Hannah, Janae, and Cara; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; sons-in-law Ron Sjoerdsma and John Lynch; grandson Cyrus; and grandson-in-law CJ.
Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched, the family she loved so fiercely, the stories that will continue to be told, and the faith she passed down to those who came after her.
